Most accrediting organizations accredit the institution, not the program. The O.D. Institute is the only organization in the world that accredits OD/OB academic programs. Students who graduate from an OD/OB academic program after it was accredited by The O.D. Institute do not have to take the written RODC test when applying to become a Registered O.D. Consultant with permission to use the initials RODC after your name. If you are involved with an OD/OB academic program that is not accredited, you might want to discuss this with the faculty. There is currently no charge for having an OD/OB academic program accredited. The O.D. Institute provides this as a public service to the field of OD/OB. Your degree with be worth more if it comes from an O.D. program that is accredited.
